Cloud or control? Why on-premises remains the answer

OpenCloud combines the advantages of modern file management with the security and control of an on-premises solution, for maximum digital sovereignty.

On-Premises

What exactly is on-premises?

On-premises (on-prem) refers to the operation of software within a company's own IT infrastructure, i.e. on servers and systems that a company or public authority operates itself in its own data centre. The responsibility for installation, operation, maintenance, security and updates lies entirely with internal IT.

More control instead of blind trust in the cloud

Cloud services offer flexibility, scalability and rapid deployment. However, with growing requirements for data protection, compliance and digital sovereignty, many organisations are increasingly questioning the outsourcing of sensitive data.
OpenCloud combines the advantages of a modern cloud platform with transparency, traceability and complete control over your own IT environment.
Data sovereignty, access control and security measures remain entirely your own responsibility. This avoids risks from external data centres, reduces dependencies on providers and makes it easier to meet industry-specific requirements.

What are the advantages of on-premises solutions?

  • Sovereign data storage: The storage location, access rights and protection mechanisms remain under your own control - crucial for health or administrative data, for example.
  • Digital independence: Operation in your own infrastructure avoids dependencies on hyperscalers and supports compliance with European data protection standards (e.g. GDPR).
  • Individual security: Firewalls, access controls or network segmentation can be customised as required - without restrictions due to shared responsibility models of external clouds.
  • Flexible integration: On-premises solutions adapt seamlessly to existing processes, legacy systems and industry-specific requirements.
  • High availability: Locally operated systems are less susceptible to external disruptions - a plus for critical infrastructures and production environments.

OpenCloud: Independent, transparent and completely in your hands

OpenCloud was developed from the outset to be operated completely on-premises, without external dependencies, without data outflow and without compromising on data protection or security.
Through standardised interfaces and a modular architecture, OpenCloud offers maximum interoperability and adaptability - combining the advantages of modern cloud technologies with true independence and control.
