OpenCloud at the Internet Security Days 2025
On 15 and 16 September 2025, the RheinEnergieSTADION will be transformed into the meeting place for IT security: the Internet Security Days (ISD). Since 2011, experts, security managers and user companies have been coming together here to address the most important issues in the field of cyber security.
This year, the focus is on three key areas:
- Cyber resilience: attack recognised, danger averted!
- Secure email: Trust in the digital world
- Secure digital infrastructures: the foundation of transformation

What to do when the foundations are suddenly shaken?
When proprietary products are discontinued or sold, companies quickly come under pressure: migrations become an obligation, costs explode, dependencies become entrenched.
Open source offers a way out.
It offers the freedom to develop software independently, work together with new partners - or simply continue on the familiar course. The freedom not to be forced, but to decide for yourself.
But what does this look like in practice? Peer Heinlein reports on a current example: from a courageous fork to the vision of a Future Workspace for Europe - digitally sovereign, open source, operated in its own data centres.
