OpenCloud at the CS3 Conference 2026 in Oslo
From 17 - 19 March 2026, the CS3 community will meet at the CS3 Conference 2026 at the University of Oslo to discuss modern storage, sync & share and collaboration solutions, especially with regard to the requirements in research and education. OpenCloud is also taking part this year and is represented several times in the programme, with contributions from our team and experience reports from the community who are already using OpenCloud.

Presentation: "Desktop Client Innovations"
Reliable synchronisation in large environments requires robust architectural decisions, not only on the server side, but also in the client. Klaas Freitag, CTO at OpenCloud, presents new aspects of the OpenCloud and desktop client architecture, talks about central client/server APIs and gives updates around the Virtual File System, which significantly improves the user experience.

Our talk: "OpenCloud Rising: Wins and Fails of the last 12 Month"
Tobias Baader, Product Manager at OpenCloud, looks back on the last twelve months of OpenCloud development, with a focus on successes and learnings. The focus is on progress such as multi-tenancy, Kubernetes deployment and OpenSearch integration, but also on the challenges that have had a lasting impact on performance, reliability and data sovereignty.

Presentation: "Storage aspects consumed by OpenCloud"
OpenCloud pursues the goal of doing without a relational database. This shifts central functions more towards storage integration, including intensive use of extended file attributes. Dr Jörn Dreyer shows which storage aspects are particularly relevant from an OpenCloud perspective, which integrations we support and which topics are currently being researched further.
