Peer Heinlein will be giving a talk on digital sovereignty through open source at re:publica 25.
OpenCloud is delighted to be represented at this year's re:publica 25 - the festival for the digital society, which will take place from 26 to 28 May 2025 at STATION Berlin. The motto of re:publica 25 is "Generation XYZ" and it will once again bring together a broad spectrum of speakers and participants who will address the digitalisation of our society, technological change and political responsibility.
Peer Heinlein, CEO and founder of the Heinlein Group and OpenCloud, will be speaking on 27 May from 17:30 to 18:00 at re:publica 25 on digital self-determination and sustainable IT strategies with open source.
What to do when commercial providers discontinue or sell products? Often, the only option is costly migration - associated with dependency and loss of control. Open Source offers an alternative: further development on your own, independent of individual manufacturers or business interests.
Based on a current practical example, Peer Heinlein shows what happens when theory meets reality - and why the answer can sometimes only be: Let's fork!
