OpenCloud at the Mindtrek Conference 2025 in Tampere

On 7 October 2025, companies, developers and representatives from the public sector will meet in Tampere, Finland for the Mindtrek Conference. Under this year's motto "OpenTech: Towards Digital Sovereignty", the focus is on the future of open technologies and their role in digital sovereignty - in business, administration and development.

Mindtrek Conference 2025

The Mindtrek Conference has been an international platform for professional exchange on open technologies since 2015. Organised by COSS - the Finnish Centre for Open Systems and Solutions, the event focuses on topics such as Open Source Software, Open Data, Open APIs and Open Standards.

The full-day programme is divided into three parallel thematic strands: Business, Developers and Public Sector. Participants can select the most relevant presentations from all areas. The aim is to present current developments, discuss practical solutions and provide impetus for the strategic use of open technologies.

OpenCloud is also represented this year with a keynote by Peer Heinlein, CEO and founder of the Heinlein Group and OpenCloud.

Keynote: "A community has to do, what a community has to do"

What happens when proprietary products are discontinued or acquired? Suddenly, organisations are faced with unexpected decisions: A migration becomes unavoidable, additional costs are incurred and quite often the only option is to work with service providers that you actually want to avoid. Open source software (OSS) offers a viable alternative here.

In his keynote speech, Peer Heinlein reports on software that could not be abandoned and a determined team that continued operations. He shows where theory and reality meet - and the challenges and opportunities that arise when you follow this path consistently.
